Here’s a fun candid of Jane and Howard Keel on the set of Waco (1966).

After Johnny Reno, Jane made another Paramount feature for producer A.C. Lyles. Waco was also released in 1966 and starred Howard Keel.

Here’s a candid of Jane getting a visit from boxer Floyd Patterson on the set of Johnny Reno in October 1965.

This is a new discovery (to me) that a friend sent – Jane advertising luggage in the 1954 Sears catalog.

Johnny Reno

Year of Jane Russell: Day 340

In 1966, Jane co-starred in Johnny Reno after producer A.C. Lyles appealed to her personally. At this point she had been making films for 25 years, but she was still given a bathtub scene.

This pic of Jane filming Night of the Hunter on location in the San Fernando Valley was taken by Gordon Dean for the Valley Times newspaper. It’s in the Los Angeles Public Library collection that I oversee. https://tessa.lapl.org/cdm/singleitem/collection/photos/id/44878/rec/1

Here’s a charming behind-the-scenes shot of Jane on the set of Fate is the Hunter.

Small but Impactful Role

Year of Jane Russell: Day 337

Jane plays herself in Fate is the Hunter and has limited screen time, but she definitely makes her mark on this fascinating film with an impressive ensemble cast featuring Glenn Ford, Nancy Kwan, Rod Taylor, and Suzanne Pleshette, among others.

Fate of the Hunter

Year of Jane Russell: Day 336

After making Fuzzy Pink Nightgown, Jane disappeared from the big screen for seven years, returning in 1964 for a cameo in Fate is the Hunter. In the film she wore her fabulous gown designed by Mr. Blackwell for her live shows with Connie Haines & Beryl Davis.

For one of their tours, Jane, Connie Haines, and Beryl Davis had designer/acerbic fashion critic Mr. Blackwell design the wardrobe for them which reportedly cost $62,000.
