Watered Down Mamie

The Revolt of Mamie Stover was based on a novel of the same name by
William Bradford Huie. Because of the Production Code, the film ended up being a severely watered down version of the source material.

Even though Jane wore a red wig for The Revolt of Mamie Stover, she dyed her own hair to match. Here she is with hairdresser with Stephanie McGraw putting the flame in “Flaming Mamie.”
Father Walsh

The Revolt of Mamie Stover was directed by Raoul Walsh whom Jane adored. She called him Father Walsh and stayed in touch for the rest of his life, sending him telegrams every year on Father’s Day.

After finishing Hot Blood, Jane got a much needed break by relaxing in Acapulco where her production company was filming Run for the Sun. Rested up, she went to Hawaii to shoot The Revolt of Mamie Stover.
